We’re thrilled to announce that Odoo Experience 2024 is scheduled for October 2nd, leading up to the grand reveal of the latest Odoo 18. In this blog, we’ll explore some of the exciting features coming to the Inventory Module.
1. Simplified Product Types
Odoo 18 has removed the "Storable Product" type and introduced a new check field to simplify product management. This change aims to reduce confusion in configuration
2. Lot-Based Inventory Valuation
With Odoo 18, users can now manage cost fluctuations by tracking the actual costs associated with lot numbers. This enhancement improves accuracy in inventory valuation and financial reporting.
3. Automatic Batch/Serial Number Generation
Odoo 18 now automatically generates batch numbers when receiving products that require tracking. This feature saves time and minimizes errors in the inventory management process.
4. Customer Lot Reports
A new feature allows users to access lot and serial links in the customer record (res.partner) to view a report listing all products delivered to that customer. This provides better visibility into customer transactions.
Users will benefit from an expanded view on pop-ups, improving usability and enhancing the overall user experience when managing inventory tasks.
6. On-Demand Quality Checks
The new on-demand quality check feature enables users to perform quality checks directly from warehouse orders. This ensures efficient stock management and helps maintain high standards of quality control.
7. Enhanced Putaway Strategies
Odoo 18 introduces new putaway strategies that enhance warehouse management. The addition of a "sub-location" column offers options for no sub-location (default), last used, and closest location (with storage categories). Furthermore, putaway rules can now be set up without needing specific products, categories, or packaging, streamlining the setup process.
